Governor Akeredolu Odunayo (SAN) aka Aketi of Ondo State assumed office in 2017 and has since undertaken some projects in the ‘Sunshine State’. One of his major projects is the Ore Flyover and Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub which were commissioned by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari on the 25th of February, 2020. In the mood of his 3rd year in office, the state invited some well-known faces in the Nigerian entertainment industry to celebrate his landmark.
Governor Akeredolu Stole the Highlight in the Redemption Concert
One of the activities lined up to celebrate the 3rd year in office of Governor Akeredolu is the Redemption concert held at the Democracy Park, Akure, the state capital. Nigerian A-list artists billed for the event included 9ice, Zlatan Ibile, Small Doctor, and many others. Comedians Seyi Law, Arkbishop and others were also included to add more fun to the concert.
The all-night began in frenzy mood as the people of the state stormed the venue. Different artists performed on stage to the admiration of the audience. The governor himself became a stage performer when he held the microphone and danced to a number of songs. As the people were chanting, governor Akeredolu upped his game as he showed his dance moves.
The governor mimed and danced to Fela-Anikulapo-Kuti’s ‘Water E No Get Enemy‘ monster hit and the people couldn’t get enough when he did the ‘Legbeegbe’ style when the disc jockey played one of the governor’s best hit by musician, Mr Real. In his red-face-cap labelled ‘Aketi’, big shirt and trouser, governor Akeredolu went viral with his dance steps thereby stealing the highlights of the day from music performers such as Zlatan Ibile and Small Doctor.
The governor’s act has since generated many comments by social commentators and social media users on while a state governor would become a dancer on stage thereby turning himself to a clown.
The week-long activities have ended with a Church Thanksgiving service on the 1st of March, 2020. Governor Akeredolu, out of his hangover would therefore resume back to work and get back to the issues of Amotekun among other things he has spear-headed as a governor.
