Professor Nnenna Nnannaya has emerged as the first-ever female Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO.
The governing council of FUTO led by Professor John Offem announced the appointment after she beat six other candidates vying for the post.
EveryEvery.ng gathered that Professor Nnannaya is the first woman to assume that position since its inception.

Professor Nnannaya, who hails from Afikpo in Ebonyi State, is a Professor of Soil Science and Environmental conservation.
The FUTO VC was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor on Academics of FUTO and served as the Dean of Post-Graduate School in the institution.
FUTO Gets First Female VC
She studied soil science in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where she obtained her Master’s in Soil Microbiology/Biochemistry in 1986.
In 1987, She bagged PGD in Irrigation Engineering with Distinctions at Katholieke University, Belgium and obtained her PhD in 2002, in Soil/Environmental Control from FUTO .
She is to succeed the outgoing V.C. Professor Eze in June as the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.
