As a result of heavy downpours and flooding in Kwara State, no fewer than two lifeless bodies were discovered in a vehicle not too far from the Olusola Saraki Abattoir.
Sadly, the state’s fire service made the recovery of the bodies at Ilorin and their deaths could only be attributed to the uncontrollable rainfall that exceeded what the environment could contain.
According to Hassan Adekunle who serves as the Head of Department, Media and Publicity of the state’s fire service, it took the help of people living in the area to salvage the situation as the service could not have succeeded in identifying what was lost and that which still existed, if not for the timely information of residents.
In his statement, Adekunle noted that the affected persons that died in the tragic incident were in a Toyota Yaris Vehicle with registration number “Lagos APP544E.”
He posited that the victims were struggling to drive through the bridge and suddenly got stuck in the flood which pushed them into the river where they eventually lost their lives.
Residents were later cautioned to stay out of the rain, especially to avoid driving when there is an unfavourable weather condition.
