There are indications that the Federal Government may announce the suspension of the National Identification Number, NIN registration.
Speaking on the ongoing NIN enrollment, the Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora noted that the registration may be suspended due to large crowds at the centers hence, posing COVID-19 risks.
Mamora said the Ministry of communications and Digital economy is considering different measures to stop the further spread of Coronavirus in the country.
The Minister, who also a member of the Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19 added that the NIN enrolment may be suspended to reorder the whole process in terms of management of the crowd.
NIN Registration
According to him, people may have to wait and be called at intervals to go through the process to reduce the huge gathering of many people at the offices of the National Identification Management Commission, NIMC.
However, the Minister urged the Commission to re-order the enrolment process to avoid large crowds at its centers nationwide.
Reacting to the large crowds at NIMC offices across the country, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami blamed Nigerians for flouting COVID-19 protocols.
