The Federal Executive Council has approved the construction of the 1st National ICT Park to serve as a focal point for the supervision of private and public ICT hubs in Nigeria.
FEC approved the National ICT Park following a memo by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami.
Everyevery.ng gathered that the Technical Assistant to the Minister of Communications, Dr Femi Adeluyi described the Park as the first of its kind.
Adeluyi noted that the Park would also accommodate the National ICT Exhibition Centre, Museum for ICT and postal services.
Meanwhile, the National ICT Park will be supported by the National Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.
National ICT Park
The N8.9billion ICT Park will be built on a 4,200 square meter land and serve as a centre for National ICT Policy formulation, Research and Development to provide the enabling environment for creative Nigerians to develop innovative technologies.
According to the Minister of communications, Pantami, the benefits of the Park would boost the digital economy, provide space and environment for the growth of innovation-driven enterprises.
It would also serve as an incubator for cutting-edge technology, a mentorship platform for innovators, provide a central location for Nigerian innovators.
