In a dramatic twist to the ongoing tension surrounding the recent clash between Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, Publicly Insults the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu.and Naval officer Lt. A.M. Yerima, reports of an alleged assassination attempt on the officer set social media abuzz on Sunday. But the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has now stepped forward with a strong rebuttal, declaring that no such incident occurred anywhere in Abuja.

The online reports, which spread rapidly across multiple platforms, claimed that Lt. Yerima was aggressively trailed by unidentified men dressed in black and riding in two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates. According to the circulating narrative, the men allegedly followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way, prompting the naval officer to perform a “strategic maneuver” to evade the supposed threat. Some posts even claimed the matter was under active investigation.
However, the FCT Police Command dismissed the entire account as false and misleading.
Speaking on the matter, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the police had no record or report of such an incident, describing the viral claims as baseless. She urged residents to disregard the story entirely, warning that spreading unverified information could sow unnecessary fear and tension across the city.
The police further encouraged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any genuine suspicious activity to the nearest police division or through the Command’s emergency lines.
As public interest in Lt. Yerima’s confrontation with Minister Wike continues to rise, authorities are urging citizens to rely on verified information and avoid contributing to the spread of panic-inducing rumors.
