Lagos Socialite, Erelu Okin, has been invited by the State Police Command over the gesture displayed yesterday at her event.
Okin, who goes by Pearl Ogbolu, gifted her guest gallons of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS as souvenir during her massive and attractive party in the state.
However, when she learnt the stunt had caused an outrage on social media following the reality that some states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, have been witnessing dire fuel scarcity, she immediately tendered an apology to persons offended by the gesture.
The act was first noticed via a viral video that had recently circulated on social media showing petrol being distributed as a souvenir at Ogbolu’s Lagos event.
The event officially occurred on March 4, 2022, and has since triggered varying reactions that also drew the attention of the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has ordered the arrest of all persons involved in the sharing of petrol as at the event.
The state police public relations officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.
