Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s son, Seun Kuti, has said the government has threatened to close down the African Shrine if he go ahead with an aftermath meeting on #ENDSARS.
The meeting is to go on with the launch of his “political resistance” which he called The Movement of the People.
Seun Kuti took to his social media page to lay the claims after the Nigerian Police had reach out to his sister, Yeni Kuti. The Afrobeat singer also shared the letter sent by the government on his official Twitter page @RealSeunKuti.
The Nigerian Police had threatened to close down the African shrine if the meeting goes ahead.
Seun Kuti wrote, “So yesterday the government called my eldest sister @yeniakuti and threatened to close the shrine if I hold my event there tmr and also sent a letter to back it up.
“I respect my families decision not to hold the event as is but I will still go ahead with all the other…” he added.
Reacting to the letter, Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore said that the meeting must to hold.
His tweet reads, “Just read the ridiculous letter from @policeng to the @afrikanshrine over a mass meeting planned by @RealSeunKuti to discuss aftermath of #Endsars
“it is obvious that d tyrannical regime of @MBuhari is starting a police state, this must be resisted. The meeting must hold” he added.
