The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has invited the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio; and the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Prof Kemebradikumo Pondei.
According to an invitation letter addressed to a group, Foundation for True Freedom and Good Governance, both Akpabio and Pondei were invited for questioning over the allegations of financial recklessness in the NDDC.
The letter which was signed by the Head, Economic Governance Section, Adebayo Adeniyi was addressed to the leader of the Foundation for True Freedom and Good Governance, Deji Adeyanju.
EFCC Invites Akpabio
The letter is titled, Request for Investigation of Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and the acting MD NDDC, Professor Daniel Pondei over alleged diversion of public funds.
However, the antigraft agency called on Adeyanju to clarify some of the allegations levelled against both men as it also revealed that it was probing both Akpabio and Pondei.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly is currently investigating the leadership of the NDDC over allegations of mismanaging 81 billion naira.
