A few days after three commissioners of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Area Development Commission resigned their appointments, the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki has suffered another blow.
The commissioners, Osamwonyi Atu, Emmanuel Odigie and Rilwanu Oshiomhole had tendered their resignation letter ahead of the state governorship elections slated for September.
However, it was gathered that the Director, Obaseki/Shaibu Movement, Mr Patrick Iyoha on Tuesday, July 28 joined the league of people who have withdrawn their support from Obaseki.
Iyoha, who is also a member of the state Waste Management Board said his resignation was with immediate effect and due to personal reason.
Obaseki Suffers Another Set-Back
Also, two members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, including Mr Gabriel Oiboh, Chairman, State Post Primary Education Board and Mr Osanyemwere Osawe tendered their letters of resignation to the governor.
In the letter, they said their resignations followed pressure to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a related development, seven elected councillors in Oredo local government area have pledged their support for the governorship flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Out of the seven councillors, one represents Ward four where Governor Obaseki hails from while seven out of ten elected councillors in Uhunmwonde local government area have promised to remain in the APC.
