The Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, has called on Nigerian youths to reconsider their plans for a nationwide protest against the ongoing economic difficulties in the country.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Dr. Ibrahim emphasized the need for peace and stability to allow the government to effectively tackle the challenges facing the nation. She noted that the economic hardships currently experienced are not unique to Nigeria but are part of a global issue that has persisted since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The government is already addressing these issues. The economic hardships that we are facing today are not limited to Nigeria,” Dr. Ibrahim stated. “Since COVID-19 struck, the global economy has not quite recovered.”
Dr. Ibrahim urged the youth to avoid engaging in any activities that might disrupt public order and emphasized the importance of remaining law-abiding. She reiterated that the government’s efforts to resolve the economic issues are ongoing and require the cooperation and understanding of all citizens.
The Minister’s appeal comes amid growing unrest and calls for a nationwide protest over the rising cost of living and economic instability in the country. As the situation develops, the government continues to seek measures to alleviate the economic strain on its citizens while maintaining social order.
