The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has finally died after struggling in the hospital to save his life several times.
According to t the Buckingham palace, Prince Philip died at the age of 99. The statement released to that effect reads in part.
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
Prince Philip some records of going in and out of the hospital, despite his show of bravery and active engagement in the palace.
In 2011, he spent Christmas at the hospital where he was treated for a blocked artery which he survived.
The following year, he had a bladder infection and also had an exploratory operation in 2013.
He also spent weeks in the hospital earlier in 2021, after which he passed at 99years.
Report says he will be buried in a royal ceremonial funeral and not a state funeral, in line with his wish.
His marriage to Queen Elizabeth II is the longest in the British royals’ history, as it lasted for mover than 70years.
