The Lagos State Government has interfered in the case, as they have ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki.
This statement was signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Ganiu Lawal.
The closure will be pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a school student.
Commissioner for Education Mrs Folasade Adefisayo announced the closure after a meeting with the School Management and Staff.
“The Commissioner called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the incident.”
It was earlier reported that the school management notified parents that the school had been closed for Friday and Monday while advising that it is a good time for their students to revise for their upcoming examination that would hold next week.
The death of the 12-year-old boy has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling out the school for their initial statement.
