Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, better known as Davido has opened up about his decision to go into music instead of the family business.
Davido’s billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke is a business magnate, founder and president of Adeleke University. He is also the founder of Pacific Energy which is directed by Davido’s brother, Adewale Adeleke.
This has been the same for Davido’s other siblings but the singer decided to take a different direction by doing music. The DMW record label boss disclosed the reason for his decision in a recent interview with Grammy Museum. The singing sensation has been out of social media for a while but returned with the interview with Grammy.
When asked why he didn’t join the family business, he revealed he wasn’t concentrating on a lot of things including his school. The ‘Fall’ crooner said his decision to go into music was out of passion and not rebellion.
In his words, ‘‘It wasn’t like oh I wanna go and rebel and do my own thing. It wasn’t really that. I was just in love with music. I couldn’t concentrate on anything else’‘
”I was slacking in school, I was slacking in a lot of other things I was meant to be focusing on. It was just music music music. I had to fight for it. It was what I knew I was destined to do” he added.
Davido also during the interactive session that he’ll release his ‘A Better Time‘ album next year and would be back on Instagram after the release of the much anticipated album.
