The Vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the economic response to the impact of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
The Vice President who chairs the Economic Sustainability Committee told the President that the Committee was working on the appropriate economic response to the pandemic.
Osinbajo Brief Buhari On Economic response the committee was putting in place after it was set up by President Buhari to ensure that the appropriate measures are put in place to mitigate the possible adverse effects of the COVID-19 Outbreak on Nigerians.
President Buhari confirmed the briefing via a post on his verified Twitter account, and the tweet reads “The Vice President briefed me today on the work of the Economic Sustainability Committee, which I recently set up, and which he chairs. The Committee is working on an appropriate economic response to the unfolding impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Osinbajo Brief Buhari On Economic Response
Earlier, President Buhari had commended the efforts of the Presidential Task Force that was set up for the Control of Coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians have lamented the ill arrangements on the parts of the Federal government before declaring a total lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Ogun and Lagos State.
Also, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawal and Speaker of the House of Representatives have queried the poor implementation of Social Investment Programme.
They both questioned the palliative put in place by the government to cater to Nigerians during the lockdown.
They disclosed this after meeting with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq and some top officials of the ministry.
