An Abuja High Court has terminated the suit filed over the alleged forgery of certificate by the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had been accused of forging the Bachelor of Arts certificate given to him from the University of Ibadan in Classical Studies by some members of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in Edo State prior to the tumultuous Edo APC governorship primary elections.
The plaintiffs asked for the court to impose that the sitting governor is not eligible to seek reelection or run as a governor of the state, due to the fact that certificate forgery contravenes section 182(1)(i) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution of 1999, as amended.
Justice Anwuli Chiekere who was the presiding judge in the case terminated it due to the absence of both the defendants and the plaintiffs involved in the case.
