The Kwara State Government has announced that the number of cases in the state has increased to eleven after two new cases were reported today.
The Governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed this in the state capital, Ilorin on thursday during the start of the biometric registration of transporters that are in line to receive soft loans from the government to mitigate the effect of the coronavirus lockdown in the state.
Kwara state has discharged 2 cases previously after they tested negative for the virus. The two new cases are people who were in contact with confirmed cases.
The governor said, “The lockdown for another two weeks is to reduce the number of cases. As you can see, Kano is going up; Lagos is going up. Even in Kwara, we have two more new cases.
“So there is the need for boundaries to be locked down. Essentially, each state has different policies on lockdown but we want to ensure that people are not moving across boundaries to transmit the virus.”
