Contaminated fuel is currently in circulation in the country, and news of the sale has gotten to the ears of President Muhammadu Buhari, who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum Resources.
The development sparked the fury of the President that he immediately ordered the issuance of a query addressed to Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.
Also, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Timipre Sylva, was instructed to dig into the situation and report on their findings.

Contaminated Fuel
In what was described as the circulation of off-spec petrol products, started since Monday 7, 2022, and is still ongoing, has reportedly started affecting the supply chain, thereby, causing major long queues mainly in Filling stations sited in Lagos and Abuja.
This setback has led to the shutting down of several Petroleum stations to enable them clean up their tankers and get rid of any suspected contamination.
