The coronavirus pandemic/ Coronavirus cases struck Wuhan in China in 2019 and has since spread around the globe. Differences in testing, however, means the number of CoronaVirus cases for some countries can be understated.
According to the statistics compiled by Johns Hopkins University 5 million people have been infected by the coronavirus.
So far 5,100,895 cases have been confirmed, 329,895 people have died, while 2,033,488 people have been reported worldwide.
The highest record remains with the United States, Russia and Brazil. 1,5 million cases and at least 94,779 deaths in the United States, Russia has almost 309,000 confirmed infections and 2,972 deaths from COVID-19, while Brazil has almost 292,000 reported cases and 18,859 deaths.
On the African continent, there are 99,062 confirmed cases of the virus, with 3,082 deaths and 39,085 recoveries.
South Africa leads the pack with nearly 20,000 infections, 8,950 recoveries and 369 deaths, while Nigeria has 7,016 coronavirus cases, 211 deaths and 1,907 recoveries
