The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has given bandits in the State two months ultimatum to surrender.
The Governor added that President Buhari also ordered the deployment of about six thousand troops to crush the bandits if they failed to surrender their arms.
Everyevery.ng gathered that the Ultimatum for bandits, which was announced by President Buhari came about a week after he declared Zamfara a no-fly zone.
Matawalle noted that Buhari ordered the deployment of the additional troops to complement other security forces’ effort in tackling the security challenges in the state.
Ultimatum For Bandits
According to Governor Matawalle, the president agreed to a time frame within which the bandits should surrender their weapons and embrace peace.
Meanwhile, he opined that his administration’s peace deal had recorded successes across the state, adding that the dialogue had reduced bloodshed.
Earlier, the state’s traditional rulers have revealed that there were over 30,000 bandits in Zamfara forests across the State.
In the same vein, Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has called on the newly appointed service chiefs to show more commitment and take stricter actions to fight against insecurity.
