The Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has imposed a 24hours curfew on the state following the rioting protest over the arrest of the suspects who were involved in the lunching of Deborah Samuel.
Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, was on Thursday stoned to death and burnt thereafter over alleged blasphemy.
The Police have since arrested two suspects in connection to the killing, with some indigenes protesting for the release of their colleagues.
The protesters wielded placards with inscriptions such as, “Release our Muslim brothers”, Muslims Are Not Terrorists”, among others.
Governor Tambuwal has therefore imposed a 24 hours curfew on the state to douse the tension in the area.
