Burna Boy is on a roll. His self-acclaimed title “African Giant” is becoming true with every new move he makes. The tremendous improvement and appeal that his recent body of works exude are worth extolling.
Over the weekend, the Afro-fusion artist and genius behind the widely-loved “Gbona” won a BET Awards under the category of Best International Act. He was nominated alongside many other talented acts from and Nigeria and around the world. Some of them are: Teni, Mr. Eazi, AKA, Giggs, Aya Nakamura.
Burna Boy celebrated his new achievement on Twitter by tweeting the following:
“God is great! Thank you to everyone that’s supporting, I would not have done this without you. This one is for Africa.”
His mother who is also his manager, Bose Ogulu, claimed the stage to receive the award on his behalf and gave a beautiful speech which received a rapturous applause from the audience:
“Every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you were anything else.”
She also said to expect more “madness” from Burna this year.
It is public knowledge that OluwaBurna is currently working on a new project. It is expected that it’ll even be better than his previous collection of works. And if his recent song and collaborations are anything to go by, we’re definitely gearing up for more Burna Boy-induced happiness. And will also translate to many more awards and recognitions.
Congratulations to him! We’re more than excited for him and can’t wait for more wins! More feathers on his African cap!
