A former Big Brother Naija housemate Khafi Kareem has been warned for the last time by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom after being probed for misconduct.
Khafi Kareem, a constable of the Met Police who appeared on the season 4, ‘pepper dem’ edition of the BBNaija show, on Monday, faced a probe panel after allegedly participating in the show without permission.
The 29-year-old former housemate revealed to the panel that she took and surrendered her laptop to the organisers of the reality TV show without permission from Met Police.
Khafi Kareem Gets a Written Warning
A misconduct hearing panel ruled that Khafi Kareem breached the standards of professional behaviour concerning “orders and instructions” and “discreditable conduct”, the Met Police confirmed.
After being found guilty of gross misconduct, the panel concluded that Kareem is given a final written warning.
A statement by the Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Day read, “Permission was refused for PC Kareem to appear on the Nigerian version of Big Brother as it was felt it was not in the best interest for either her or the Metropolitan Police Service to take part.
“Despite this refusal, she went on the show anyway. A detailed investigation was carried out by the Met’s directorate of professional standards which concluded PC Kareem should face gross misconduct proceedings.
“Being a police officer means you must abide by the standards of professional behaviour. PC Kareem’s behaviour fell far short and she has been given a final written warning.”
Kareem joined the Met Police as a Police Constable based at Lambeth station in 2015, having worked part-time as a special constable for four years.
Kareem married a former housemate Gedoni Ekpata in December 2020 and have a son together.
