Over the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU Strike, the Federal University of Technology Akur, FUTAstudents, have caused a major roadblock along the Akure-Ilesa Highway, hindering motorists and other operators around the area from observing their daily activities.
The Students launch a major protest against the government and ASUU officials, as the strike is mainly affecting their education wellbeing and disrupting an entire academic calendar.
Observers could see the students singing songs of protest, demanding that their situation be looked into as they showcased placards and sign that insisted for an immediate strike call off.
ASUU Strike
Some of their messages read: ‘End ASUU Strike’, ‘Save our future’, and ‘Stop Toiling with our Future’, and so on.
The Students’ Union Government, SUG president, Abiodun Ibiyemi, while addressing the gathering, stressed that they can’t tolerate the brunt of the feud between ASUU and the federal government, stating that the future of students is being challenged by constant and lingering strikes.
It was clear that the students may continue for days if their demands are not met and both parties involved in the disagreement that have led to an industrial action, find a common ground and settle their differences.
