ASUU strike action has now become a recurring theme in the Nigerian educational sector with tertiary institutions. Strike action seems to be the only way to communicate their demands effectively for the government to listen to them.
In keeping with the incessant pattern, the Taraba State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has announced that it shall be embarking on complete, extensive and indefinite strike action.
Taraba State ASUU goes on indefinite strike
According to ASSU Chairman Samuel Shitaa, the union’s demands include the correction of the non-availability of the pension system, perimeter fencing, academic allowances, among other things.

The announcement of this strike comes just days after the State government paid the four-month salary arrears that were owed the institution’s academic staff.
However, the university’s vice-chancellor has disagreed with the chairman, arguing that the government had met the union’s demands.
