Anambra election update is on the minds of many Nigerians as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared the state’s gubernatorial polls inconclusive.
Meanwhile, the commission decided to push the voting date further to Tuesday because of the security threat witnessed in areas like Ihiala Local Government Area, LGA, among others.
It was gathered that the electoral commission could not deploy both staff and materials to several locations, owing to the unrest in some parts of the state.
Anambra Election Update: Supplementary Voting to Hold Tuesday
For the above reason, the returning officer in the election, Professor Florence Obi, stated that the complementary voting process would now hold on Tuesday, November 9, to augment the 20 local government areas result already announced.
Elaborating, Prof. Obi said that the INEC team had already collated result sheets for 20 Local Government Areas. Ihiala is still outstanding as the commission was unable to deploy materials to the area.
“Based on the constitutional provision, a supplementary election will be held in Ihiala. So, we have to conclude the election in Ihiala to be able to conclude the process.” She said.
