A recent incident involving the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, unknowingly leaked information about a largesse privately paid to their accounts for their forthcoming holidays.
He spoke about payment by the Clerk of the National Assembly, NASS for the Nigerian Senate and has surprisingly forgotten to keep it a secret from citizens regarding the luxurious manner in which they extravagantly spend while enjoying the break.
It was reported that the Clerk had sent tokens to their respective accounts to “enjoy their holidays”. This initiative announced by Akpabio was received with surprise and confusion by members of the Senate.
The attention given to the issue had raised serious questions about the sensitivity of information and it was seen by the public as a way of unintentionally exposing the Nigerian Senate.
The sarcastic nature of the incident has provoked Nigerians who think that it is never acceptable for such sensitive information to be passed around without proper censorship or care.
