Akeredolu expressed concern that marauders laid siege to the highways as well as the farmlands waiting to kidnap or devour anyone in sight adding that with the launch of the Amotekun, there won’t be room for such acts again in the state.
The governor, however, noted that the agency was not inaugurated to pursue his second-term agenda stating that his ambition is not worth the insecurity that the people of Ondo state are confronted with.
Also, in a tweet, the governor said the Amotekun corp officers have gone through intensive training before they were inaugurated.
The tweet reads “Today at the passing out parade of Pioneer #Amotekun corps officers. These fine young men and women have gone through intensive training and will be complementing the efforts of our security agencies in addressing our security challenges. Congratulations to our officers.”
However, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, said the personnel were trained in collaboration with experienced hands drawn from the various security agencies in the state.
You will recall that some months ago, the bill setting up the security agency was passed into law by the state House of Assembly and later signed into law by Governor Akeredolu.
