Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has approved the payment of the arrears of newly recruited doctors in the state.
The governor disclosed this in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.
He noted that he approved the payment after an emergency meeting with the Head of Service in the state.

The tweet reads “I have just concluded an emergency meeting with the Head of Service to clarify and rectify this situation as it relates to newly recruited doctors.
I have approved that the commissioner of finance to raise funds to commence payment of their arrears.
You will recall that aggrieved resident doctors at the University of medical sciences, (UNIMED) Teaching hospital had on Friday staged a peaceful protest to demand payment of their outstanding salaries.
According to Dr Taiwo Olagbe who spoke on behalf of the resident doctors, the doctors protested over non-payment of their salaries going to between four and five months arrears.
