The Presidency has revealed the three sources of COVID-19 vaccines in Nigeria.
The Presidency revealed the sources during the second State House Briefing, which focused on Nigeria’s Response to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the National Vaccination Response.
The three sources of COVID-19 Vaccines for Nigeria are from COVAX/Gavi, Africa Vaccine Acquisition Task Team (AVATT), while India and Russia’s governments have offered Nigeria doses of their vaccines.
Government officials present at the briefing include the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire and the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu.
Others are the Executive-Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, Dr Faisal Shuaib and the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Mojisola Adeyeye.
Sources Of COVID-19 Vaccines
The Minister of Health stated that the federal government is building one oxygen plant in every State to increase supplies.
The NAFDAC Boss, Adeyeye said falsified COVID-19 vaccines are already in the global market.
She added that the Agency had intensified efforts to track and trace the fake vaccines to ensure no substandard vaccines’ infiltration in the supply chain.
Meanwhile, the NPHCDA Director, Shuaib, noted that the National vaccination campaign’s launch would take place at the National Hospital, Abuja, on Friday, March 5, 2021, with Frontline health workers.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo and other leaders would be vaccinated on Saturday to demonstrate vaccine safety to the public.
