Given the rise in kidnapping, killings and banditry cases in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a shoot at sight order to security operatives.
According to Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, the President directed security operatives to go into the forests and shoot anyone bearing sophisticated weapons like AK-47.
Garba, who disclosed this when he appeared on BBC Hausa, said the federal government had resorted to using lethal force to rid Zamfara and other northern states of bandits.
He further revealed that the no-fly zone placed on Zamfara state was because of the indications that criminal elements are using choppers to transport arms to bandits.

Garba added that the criminal elements also used choppers to evacuate and smuggle gold out of the country.
You will recall that bandits recently abducted over 200 schoolgirls from Government Girls Junior Secondary School in Jangebe, Zamfara.
Meanwhile, the abducted students’ reunion ceremony reportedly turned bloody after military officers allegedly fired shots at the agitated parents.
Everyevery.ng gathered that the shooting resulted in one person’s death while two other persons sustained severe gunshot injuries.
