Representatives of the Lagos State Government have met with the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Lagos State Branch, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo.
The Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, Mr Oluwatoyin Fayinka presided over a reconciliatory meeting between the NURTW and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN.
Fayinka said the reconciliatory meeting was consequent upon the recent clash between both parties at Obalende, Lagos.
However, he implored the two parties to agree to enhance the peaceful resolution of their differences and ensure that peace reigns across parks in Lagos State.
MC Oluomo said the boundary operations crisis that ensued between the Unions could have been averted.
Lagos Government Meets MC Oluomo
The NURTW Boss further suggested a periodic meeting of stakeholders of NURTW and RTEAN to resolve areas of disagreements before it degenerates for peace to reign.
The Lagos State Branch Treasurer for NURTW, Mr Mustapha Adekunle stated that the disagreement was about controlling park unit operations as agreed by both parties.
Meanwhile, the State Secretary of RTEAN, Mr Amusan Olalekan, maintained that the crisis would have been averted if union leaders of both parties had taken proactive measures at resolving issues immediately they ensued.
