Shortly after the announcement of the dissolution Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) of the Nigerian Police force, DMW boss, Davido continued his planned protest against police brutality.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu announced the disbandment of SARS after Nigerian youth have spent days protesting and signing petitions.
Davido joined in the protests today, leading protesters to the Police headquarters and encouraged other youth to continue pushing for a change because this new development from the office of the IGP is not a victory for us.
At the protest, protestors were attacked with teargas, hot water and live ammunition with almost 20 of them arrested. Davido tweeted ,
“It’s far from over …. we never win anything. We want an Executive order, a Legislative action & a Judicial panel of enquiry set up to prosecute those rogues. Nothing more, nothing less!!
We want the innocent protesters released now!”
Last night, Davido also influenced the release of some people who were being harassed by SARS in Abuja.
