Nigerian Female Combat Helicopter Pilot
More details about the unfortunate death of the first Nigerian female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile has been revealed by the Nigerian Air Force.
According to the Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the late pilot was killed by her ex-classmate in the Air Force base in Kaduna.
Daramola hinted that the accident that claimed Tolulope’s life was caused by her ex-classmate who was trying to reverse in order to greet her.
The young pilot who bagged a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the Nigerian Defence Academy was commissioned into the Air Force as a Pilot Officer in 2017 did not know that she was not going to serve her fatherland as long as she intended before her unfortunate death.
Though the full identity of the ex-classmate was not revealed, the announcement of her death has thrown the whole country, especially her immediate family members and the Nigerian Air Force into mourning.
Tolulope’s death occurred on Tuesday a few about four hours after speaking with her father who said she was brilliant from childhood up until her last day.
Her family, the Air Force, and her state of origin, Kogi have all not ceased to receive condolence messages from eminent Nigerians since her passing.
President Muhammadu Buhari, his wife, Aisha Buhari, President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan, her state Governor Yahaya Bello among many other dignitaries have expressed great shock and regret over the death of a young pilot who was able to contribute immensely to the fight against terrorism in her few but impactful years of service.
