Ibrahim Magu is being held by the Presidency, Police says
The Nigeria Police Force in a letter to Tosin Ojaomo has denied detaining Ibrahim Magu, the suspended Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC)
This letter was written by the DCP Idowu Owohunwa the Principal Staff Officer to Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in response to Magu’s bail application written by his lawyer, Tosin Ojaomo.
In the letter it was clearly stated that the Ex-EFCC Boss is not in the Police custody but was being ‘held’ by the Presidency.
The DCP’S letter read,
“The Inspector-General directs that your attention be drawn to the fact that the Nigeria Police Force is not investigating Ibrahim Magu and he is accordingly not being detained by the police by the Presidential Panel that is investigating the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
“The Inspector-General of Police therefore advises that you consider redirecting your request to the Chairman of the Presidential Panel for appropriate attention.”
Ibrahim Magu was arrested last week Monday by Department of State Services Officers and police personnel . It was reported that he shuffled between the police station and the Presidential Villa where he was interrogated by the Ayo Salami-led panel.
