A few days after it was reported that Heritage Bank had suspended him as their ambassador, Nigerian singer, Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as Dbanj has reacted to how some people commented on the rape allegations levelled against him.
In a post on both his Twitter and Instagram handles, the singer advised against social media trial as he further reiterated his stands against rape and human rights violation.
The posts read “Innocent until proven guilty…., STOP SOCIAL MEDIA TRIAL, SAY NO TO RAPE AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION.”
Earlier, he had maintained innocence in the rape allegations levelled against him by one Seyitan Babatoye who claimed that the singer raped her in 2018.
Dbanj Warns Against Media Trial
You will recall that some Nigerian celebrities had lent their voice to the call on rape victims not to allow themselves to be intimidated by anyone but rather speak up to discourage other rapists in the society.
Among the celebrities who gave the advice is Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, Don jazzy, Yemi Alade, Toke Makinwa, Tiwa Savage among others.
Also, it was gathered that a petition has been signed by over 15,000 persons calling on the United Nations, UN to strip Dbanj of his appointment as the UN ambassador for peace.
However, there is no official statement yet to confirm that Heritage Bank had suspended the singer as their ambassador as of the time of filing this report.
Dbanj bagged the ambassadorial deal on his 40th birthday which he celebrated on June 9, 2020.
