It’s the end of the work week and you’re looking for ways to better apply yourself? These tips should help with making weekend plans and sticking to them.
Work on your interest(s)
You have interests and passions. Cultivating a hobby is a fantastic way to unwind after a long week. Whether you’re playing a sport, pursuing photography, or even scrapbooking. This is about more than unwinding. Engaging in side projects and creative hobbies can result in enhanced work performance by way of encouraging creative thinking to solve work-related problems.
Plan
Decide during the week exactly what it is you’re aiming to do on the weekend. Write everything down so you know what your weekend plan is well in advance. This doesn’t mean you can’t allow for a bit of spontaneity, but in the main you should know what it is you want to get out of your weekend. If you don’t have any plans, you will very often end up doing nothing.
Be Active
Simply get outdoors and go for a walk, run, hike, cycle or anything else you can think of. Getting a bit of exercise and fresh air will leave you energized.
Volunteer
It turns out that acts of altruism have tangible positive effects on the giver. Helping those in need helps you keep things in perspective. Studies have found that people who volunteer in their communities display increased growth and personal well-being.
Drink less alcohol
Many people enjoy a drink and the temptation when we reach Friday night is often to have a few too many. However, the next day you’ll probably feel a bit off and spend most of the day in bed or nursing the hangover. The day will pass without you having done anything, therefore take it easy when you’re drinking. A little alcohol can help you to relax at the weekend, but don’t let it rule your time off!
The next time you decide to spend your weekend watching mindless TV, remember that time can be the stepping stone to the next breakthrough for yourself and your career.
