The Fuji musician popularly known as Obesere is one of the faces of fuji music following the path of its creator, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister. Forget the Marlian movement created by Naira Marley that is known today for vulgar words, Obesere is the creator of the use of vulgar words in Nigerian music the one he called ‘Asakasa’. He was known as the musician who brought popular vixen, Cossy Orjiakor into the limelight. It was a surprise when the lovers and fans of the music star didn’t hear from him for a very long time.
Obesere, who was formerly signed by Sony Music have released may albums, singles and have featured in many songs which include ‘Asakasa’, ‘Diplomacy’, ‘Mr. Teacher’, ‘Elegance’, ‘Omorapala Overthrow’, ‘American Faaji Series 1&2’ ‘Egungun Be Careful’, ‘Efissy’, and many more. Despite his consistency in the music industry back then, he was sidelined for some years and the only news we could hear about him is the rumor of his wife’s beating and auto-crash survival.
After a skit released by a comedian, Abass Akande Obesere’s career have been brought back to life and his now a man of the moment. His song, ‘Omo Rapala’ have been remixed by Nigerian hip-hop singer, Niniola which had him in a cameo appearance in the visual. He has worked with top Nigerian hip-hop stars since getting his career back on track. His latest music includes ‘Ebelesua’ (feat. Olamide), ‘Ja Fo Rie’ (feat. Reminisce), ‘Egungun’ (feat. Skiibii) with Zlatan Ibile set to release a song with him while he has been featured in comedy skits by popular Nigerian comedians.
Sidophobia or Baba Tosibe as he is also known is trending with his old song ‘Egungun Be Careful’; a popular theme-song among Nigerian youths today. The hit which was released by Bayowa Films Production many years ago is now a tune for comedy skits and internet posts today. The 55-year-old who seems to have retired has now been re-fired. The energetic performer and music superstar is the man of the moment in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
