Nigerian pastor and actor Jimmy Odukoya has responded to criticism surrounding his recent marriage, making it clear that he will not allow public opinion to control his personal decisions.
The senior pastor of The Fountain of Life Church came under public attention after introducing his new wife, Pastor Mo Odukoya, to members of his congregation during a Sunday service on November 1, 2026.
Following the announcement, social media users shared different opinions about the marriage. While some congratulated the couple, others questioned his decision to marry again and also criticised their appearance, particularly his earring and his wife’s nose ring.
Reacting to the criticism, Odukoya shared a strong message on social media, stating: “If you cannot die for me, don’t pressure me. If you didn’t die for me, you can’t condemn me.”
The pastor also spoke about his journey since taking over the leadership of the church after the death of his father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, in 2023. He explained that he had been handling his responsibilities alone and eventually decided to find a life partner.
He told his congregation that he had been searching for companionship and was happy to have found someone.
Jimmy was previously married to Kemi Odukoya, and their marriage produced two children. Details surrounding the end of their relationship have not been publicly explained.
His latest response has continued to generate conversations online, especially among Christians debating whether pastors should be judged differently when it comes to marriage and personal choices.
Despite the mixed reactions, Odukoya appears determined to move forward with his new marriage.
