Nigeria’s political arena has been thrown into turmoil following reports that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, allegedly clashed with a military officer, hurling insults and reportedly calling the officer both a “fool” and “useless.” The incident has been widely condemned as a public insult to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, under whose authority every uniformed officer serves.

The alleged altercation, which reportedly occurred during an official assignment, has stirred outrage across the nation. Many Nigerians view Wike’s outburst as a blatant act of disrespect to the Nigerian Armed Forces and, by extension, to the President himself.
“That uniform isn’t just fabric; it carries sweat, sacrifice, and service to our nation. Every officer who wears it deserves honor, not humiliation,” a concerned citizen stated, reflecting the public’s growing frustration over the reported incident.
Political observers and security analysts have cautioned that such behavior, if confirmed, could damage civil-military relations and undermine the morale of officers who dedicate their lives to national security. They argue that leaders in positions of authority must set examples of discipline and respect, especially toward institutions that symbolize national unity and strength.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Wike nor his media team has issued an official statement addressing the allegation. However, Nigerians are demanding accountability and calling on the Presidency to intervene to preserve the integrity and honor of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
