The profiling of youths that look a certain way and live a luxurious lifestyle is not new in Nigeria. This issue does not exempt celebrities, hence Hermes landed himself in an awkward position. The Endsars movement was birthed from such ridiculous excesses of powerplay by the police on Nigerian youths.
Recently Hermes posted a video and revealed how he was stopped and ransacked by the police. Most of the police that harasses youth do so in a bid for extra cash. This greed for cash usually leads them to take extreme measures in labelling their victim guilty.
While his video portrayed him as carefree despite the subtle harassment, people condemned his actions because they have been victims of police mischief. Hermes walked away from the search party to make a video about the incident.
The query at this was because of his absence during the search. People commented that they have gone through the experience of set up at the hands of police and the policemen could have easily done the same with Hermes.
Despite escaping conviction because of his innocence, he seems to have gotten in trouble with the internet advisers committee, who took to telling him their personal experience, the right time to make such a video and what to do the next time such an incident occurs.
