Fuel scarcity reappearance has brought major concern to government authorities as Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency, NMDPRA, has warned that any filling station caught hoarding Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, would be shutdown.
According to the state’s Coordinator of NMDPRA, Ogbe Orits Godwin, in Kogi, he dropped the hint in Lokoja yesterday in an interview with newsmen.
He briefed the media that the Kogi State Government is 100% aware of scheming by some petroleum marketers to hide fuel with the intention to start an artificial scarcity in the state and jeopardise the efforts of the government to make the product ample for residents and motorists.
The Coordinator further instructed car owners to avoid apanic buying, urging them not to fall for the theatrics of those market saboteurs frustrating government’s activities and creating fake fuel scarcity.
A few days ago, everyevery.ng reported that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC Ltd., has given reasons for the sudden reappearance of fuel queues around various parts of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
The company hinted that there are currently very low load-outs of the Petroleum Motor Spirit, PMS, leaving the recognised depots in the country.
