The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educated and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has extended their warning strike.
The two associations went on a two-week warning strike on March 27, 2022, over the government’s failure to meet their demands but have now extended the strike action by another two weeks.
In a circular titled ‘Re: Commencement of two-week warning strike’. addressed to the branch chairman of the associations on Friday, was signed by Mohammed Ibrahim (SSANU President) and Peters Adeyemi (NASU General Secretary).
The circular partly directs its members to continue with the warning strike, since the government has ignored them, hoping they would address it.
The circular read, “Deriving from the failure of the Federal Government to act positively on the ongang warning strike, JAC hereby directs members to continue with the warning strike for another two weeks, hoping that within the period the government will be in a position to address these issues.
“However, if the present situation persists members of NASU and SSANU will be adequately informed about the next line of action before the expiration of the additional two weeks.”
