Nigerian Police addressing INEC Chairman’s alleged murder in Anambra State creates an understanding towards the controversial issue.
Yesterday, the misconstrued message circulating regarding the passing of Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was discarded by DSP Nkeiruka Nwode.
The information claimed that Yakubu was assassinated in Anambra State by unknown gunmen, as the motive behind the misinformation is yet to be unravelled.
The news further indicated that INECChairman was a victim of the activities of a deadly gang terrorizing the South-East Region for a particular period.
INEC Chairman Still Alive- Zonal Police PRO
DSP Nwode, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, PRO/Head of Police Media Team for the Governorship Election, hinted that Yakubu is still very well and alive.
She noted that Yakubu also attended a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka on Wednesday to engage them and talk about the needed peace and violence-free elections expected to hold on November 6, 2021.
The Police appealed for caution by public members while appealing to internet users to avoid contents that do not reflect the current security state, adding that mischief-makers are only out to create chaos.
