A two-storey building has reportedly collapsed, in 97 Lagos road, Haruna bus stop in Ikorodu, Lagos. The collapse reportedly left one (1) person dead.
Residents covered a rescue mission to salvage those buried under the rubble of the building. The Fire service and police came after the incident but lacked the equipment to excavate the debris and carry out proper rescue activities.
It is reported that occupants of the collapsed building were priorly told to vacate the building by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
Two (2) persons were rescued by the residents but three (3) people were reportedly trapped in the debris. The rescued persons are reported to be receiving treatment in Ikorodu General Hospital.
Ibrahim Farinloye, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Acting Coordinator of Lagos State reportedly stated that the Police, NEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and other agencies are carrying out rescue operations.
