The Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has officially declared for the 2023 presidential race.
The Vice-President made his intention to run for office known in a short broadcast shared on his Twitter page on Monday.
He shared a video of the broadcast where he noted his experiences being the VP of the country, and how he is ready to continue the good work they have started.
He wrote, “I am today, with utmost humility formally declaring my intention to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of APC.
“At the direction of Mr President, I have represented our country in several international engagements. I have been in markets, factories, schools, and farms. I have visited our gallant troops in the North-East and our brothers and sisters in the IDP camps.
“I believe that the very reason why the Almighty God gave me these experiences, these insights and these opportunities, is that they must be put to the use of our country and its great peoples.”
Osinbajo had on Sunday night at a dinner to break the Ramadan fast hosted at the Presidential Villa informed the APC governors of his intentions to run.
Osinbajo will be contesting the APC Presidential primary against APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi; and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
