`The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Sokoto State has penalised a total of 17 corp members of the Batch B stream 1 in the state.
Mr Philip Enatonme Enabuere who is the Sokoto state NYSC coordinator made this known in Sokoto on Thursday, during the passing out parade of the batch B stream 1. The coordinator pointed out that seven of those corp members are to repeat the whole service year while the other ten has an extension of between two weeks to four months added to their service.
According to the NYSC coordinator, the state lost one of its serving corp members during the service period.
Also, some corp members were singled out for praise and award for their impact and outstanding performance during service. Two were recommended to the governor for the state government’s award, three more were recommended for the local government chairman award, and two more were recommended for the sultan’s award.
Mr Philip Enabuere thanked the batch B stream 1 for their service to the state despite the hindrances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In observation of social distancing, the state has decided that it would issue out certificates for a total of 10 days, without more than 30 certificates issued at a point. The state also intends to make special passes and provisions to enable corp members to travel to their states of residence despite the travel ban.
He said, “As part of these, we asked the outgoing corps members to photocopy their identity cards and bring it for signing authorising them to travel. We have also made an arrangement with some transport companies to carry the corps members to various states across the country starting from tomorrow 29, May to 11 June 2020”.
