World top golfer Tiger Woods was involved in a fatal car accident recently. According to reports, the golfer is currently “awake, and he is responding to treatment.
He already had successful surgery on serious leg injuries he suffered in the car crash in Los Angeles. Tiger Woods is a 15-time golf major champion, had to be “extricated from the wreck” by firefighters and paramedics.
The 45-years-old suffered an open fracture which affected his tibia and fibula bones in his lower right leg. It is reported that a rod will be inserted in his tibia to help him stand and walk well.
Tiger Woods also had some injuries on his foot, and his ankle has been stabilised with screws and pins. According to a Twitter post from his account, he is recovering in his hospital room.
The chief medical officer of the Harbor UCLA Medical Centre, Anish Mahajan, where he is being treated, said the open fractures were comminuted, which means it is broken in more than two pieces.
Mahajan also said: “Trauma to the muscle and soft tissue of the leg required the surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling. Woods has not been able to stand. Carlos Gonzalez made this known when he spoke about him.
He said Tiger Woods could not stand on his own before being removed from the vehicle, which had sustained significant damage. He noted that it was a miracle Mr Woods came out of the accident alive.
