UN Speaks On EndSARS Protests In Nigeria

The United Nations, UN has reacted to the recently held EndSARS protests in Nigeria.

Reacting, the organization described the protests as legitimate.

The UN also reiterated its support for the EndSARS protesters’ agitations for social justice and good governance.

Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Ms Amina Mohammed stated this during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, Mohammed, who led a UN delegation to the President stressed the need for such agitations to be pursued peacefully.

According to Mohammed, the entire organisation were alarmed by the weight of the protests and consequent level of destruction.

Meanwhile, she added that the UN is in support of efforts by the Nigerian government’s to meet the demands of the youths.

Furthermore, she opined that the reform of the security sector has become imperative.

Earlier, Buhari had during the meeting with the UN delegation charged Nigerian youths to shun violence.

The President added that he has sent a team by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, to go round the country, talk to traditional rulers, who will then talk to the youth.
