In a candid interview with BET Africa, Nigerian singer Skales opened up about his feelings regarding his family legacy, expressing regret over not having more children. The artist revealed that the death of his mother has left him contemplating the future of his family’s bloodline.
“Right now, I really regret not having baby mamas because I am the only person in my family’s bloodline that is alive right now,” Skales shared. “So, the whole bloodline relies on me to produce right now. When my mother died was when I realised that there is not much of my bloodline.”
Skales, who lost his mother in October 2022, emphasised the weight of responsibility he now feels. He got married to Precious Njeng-Njeng in May 2021, and the couple welcomed their first child in March 2023.
As he navigates the complexities of family and legacy, Skales’ reflections resonate with many who contemplate their own family histories and the continuation of their lineage.
